Ruthenium and Osmium in Cancer Drugs

I found a very interesting article about the treatment of cancer cells with transition metals. One of the most effective cancer fighting drugs, Cisplatin, is comprised of platinum. Now, a new drug that contains a combination of two transition metals, Ruthenium and Osmium, is able to take cancer treatment to a new level. Research has found that this new cancer drug has the ability to fight against colon and ovarian cancer cells that have formed a resistance to other drugs. This discovery is revolutionary for the field of medicine because it shows that there are still ways to cure cancer even when the cells have developed immunity to certain drugs and it also shows that further study of the transition metals could lead to more medicinal advances.
