Nanomagnetics: Using nanotechnology to reuse catalysts

The use of catalysts in chemical reaction has an ecological benefit. The problem arises when you attempt to recycle the catalysts. The team at McGill University developed a new catalyst using nanotechnology that can be "Pulled out" of the finished solution and reused. The basis of the technology is the nanoparticles in iron magnets. This technology can be used to generate reactions for pharmaceutical research at a faster and more efficient rate.

I found this article to be very intriguing. The thought of "going green" an such a basic step is perfect. By reusing catalysts the use of toxic and heavy metals can be significantly reduced.
