Who knew that there were SO many common household chemicals that could be potentially very harmful to you in your home? There are of course the obvious chemicals that we are all told can be very dangerous if used incorrectly, such as bleach, antifreeze, and rat poison. All of those seem to be somewhat common sense type of chemicals that it is considered common knowledge that they can be dangerous. Then there is something as simple as mothballs that have chemicals in them that can cause headaches, eye and skin irritation, and possibly liver damage and cataracts! Or something like if some air fresheners get into and irritate your lungs, it can cause cancer! Wow. I’m in shock. Who knew they COULD be so dangerous.

it's true that most household chemicals have at least some detrimental affect when used too much. I was surprised that mothballs are harmful because I had always thought they were a natural preservative. It makes sense that so many chemicals, especially ones designed to clean, are harmful. In order to clean properly, chemicals have to kill bacteria so we know that we must exercise caution.
