Global warming has slowly been causing severe consequences on earth that could be very catastrophic if not stopped. Researchers have realized the cause of global warming is human activity. This would be things such as the burning of fossil fuels, which pump excessive amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Global warming is causing a multitude of problems that are constantly growing such as the average temperature, shifts in climate patterns, and extreme weather events. One of the biggest effects of global warming is the melting ice which kills animals while causing the sea level to rise. Many plants and animals have had to move northward to higher altitudes because of the warming temperature. The warming also expands disease pathogens that can eventually kill of plants and animals. Another big chemical impact that global warming has had is ocean acidification. Global warming increases the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels which create a higher acidity of ocean water. This ends up killing any organisms with calcium carbonate shells and will eventually kill off the coral reefs. Overall, global warming is changing the earth in a very negative way. Spreading awareness of the effects of global warming can hopefully help slow it down along with a few other simple tasks. People can do things such as recycle more, turn of lights and devices, drive less, conserve water, and plant trees. These simple things can make a big difference if everyone does them and hopefully global warming will end someday.

I disagree with this post. I do not believe global warming is altering the world in ‘a very negative way’. The discussion of whether the production of synthetic carbon dioxide has caused quantifiable temperature surges over the last 30 years is disputed amongst top scientists. Actually, carbon dioxide is a nonthreatening and essential substance. Without it, plants would not grow, and without plant-life animals could not exist. An increase of carbon dioxide emission in the atmosphere would result in a surplus of plant and tree growth.
ReplyDeleteData indicates synthetic carbon dioxide has not increased global temperatures. If man-made global warming were real, atmospheric and surface temperatures would be increasing steadily. But it is obvious they have not. In fact the temperature high today, September 11, in the city of Chicago is the normal high for the middle of November. Clearly, there is no temperature escalation.
This is further supported by the petition signed by over 17,00 doctors from the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine. The petition reads as follows:
“We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”
Clearly, the data supporting global warming need to be reevaluating before being released and unnecessarily frightening the public. This is an example of the importance of supplying truthful and correct information. We must thoroughly analysis any and all data before blindly accepting it as fact.
