A Vegetable Garden (Almost) on the Moon

It sounds almost impossible for people to have a vegetable garden on the moon. Although we have technology nowadays, the environment on the moon is not fit for people. Especially, since there is no air and no water on the moon to sustain life.

At the University of Arizona, they proposed that someday people could colonize the moon, at which point, food will be necessary. The garden at the University of Arizona sports 220 pounds of wet plant material and can produce 13 gallons of drinkable water every day. Gene Giacomelli, head of the U of A's prototype, said," it could be just as useful for growing crops in places where agricultural land is non-existent, like urban centers." The research will help get people one step closer to living elsewhere like the moon, Mars and the like.
