Driving Cancer Cells to Suicide
Researchers at Ludwig Maximillian University in Germany have discovered new classes of chemical compounds that could lead on to the easier expulsion on cancer cells through chemotherapeutic sessions. They have discovered the key enzyme that can lead to the sensitizing of the cancer cells that cause them to divide and therefore be more susceptible to radiation treatment. These chemical compounds are non-toxic therefore no main side effects have been interpreted yet and it has proven to be safe and allows less amounts of dosage to be used. These chemical compounds are referred to as “T8” and the specific make up was not released although it is lead (Pb) based.
This was interesting to me because it shows the advancements we are making in the fight against cancer as something that seems so mortifying is now finding more and more ways to destroy it. By basically breaking down these cancer cells, they are easier to eliminate with chemotherapy and cure cancer, which is just another positive step in the medical industry using chemical compounds.
