Wintertime ozone pollution in Utah oil and gas fields explained

Scientist have found that ozone levels in the winter are spiked from chemical releases into the air from gas and oil exploration. These findings have a direct correlation with air quality during the winter.  Experts say that people with pre-existing respiratory conditions should limit their time outside. The presences of snow can accelerate ozone production due to the reflect of the light off the snow. This spike in poor air quality that is usually only seen in the summer are now being seen in the winter. I found this article interesting because I myself have a respiratory illness and never knew about the poor air quality in the winter. It helps me understand better why I have a harder time breathing during the winter.
