Researchers from the University of Utah developed the first room temperature fuel cell that can run without having to ignite the fuel. The fuel cell uses jet fuel with enzymes that help create energy without actually igniting the fuel. Fuel cells convert the energy into electricity through a chemical reaction of the fuel and a oxygen rich source. Engineers expect to use these fuel cells in portable electronics, off grid power sources, and sensors. Researchers and engineers are working side by side to further improve the efficiency of these new fuel cells.
