The presence of incandescent light has grown dramatically since its initial discovery in the 1800s and can be seen shining through an uncountable amount of light bulbs across the world. However, the incandescent light bulb is going to face extinction within the future to come. This is because Incandescent light bulbs are made with very rare and expensive earth metals. Due to the scarcity of the necessary metals to construct incandescent light bulbs, scientists, in turn, have discovered how to construct LED light bulbs, which do not use these rare earth metals. Instead, these LED light bulbs are created with Copper Iodide, which is an extremely copious compound. Furthermore, LED lights are far more energy efficient and cheaper to produce than incandescent light bulbs. In turn, this can reduce the annual energy costs of a country by a great deal. For instance, the article states that the US department of energy could save over 250 billion dollars in energy costs during the country’s transition period from incandescent to LED Lighting over the next two decades. Through the use of LED lighting, less energy would then be needed to power a country and the overall carbon emission from coal plants and various other ways of electrical generation would be greatly reduced. In the long run, this will positively impact the environmental status of the Earth as a whole. LED lighting is an amazing solution to replacing incandescent light bulbs, which are a dying breed within the realm of modern electrical lighting.
