Nanotubes as X-Ray Source

http://www.intute.ac.uk/hottopics/2009/08/nano-x-ray-tube/

There have been recent advances in the science involving x-rays. Otto Zhou and his team at the University of North Carolina created an x-ray tube to replace the existing vacuum tube. The carbon nanotubes they used emit electrons, which produce x-rays. One of the advantages of this new approach is that the precision of the picture is improved. Zhou and his team hope to use this in the future for human cancer imaging and treatment to view small internal details of the human body.
