I found a very interesting article about a new medical discovery. Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and the University of California, San Francisco discovered a method that compares the similarity of the structures of 3,365 FDA-approved drugs and compared them to the naturally occurring binding partners of disease targets in cells. This new method is revolutionary and important because it has potential to predict new uses and unexpected side effects of FDA-approved drugs. In addition, it is quite remarkable that we are now able to find once unpredictable side effects from simply looking at the chemical structures.
