Here is a video explaining the properties of the magnetic liquid know as Ferrofluid. This liquid as its name suggest is made up partially of an iron compound. The iron gives the liquid its uncanny ability to be manipulated by magnetic fields. The video gives a great overview of the properties and applications of ferrofluid. Surfactant, surface-active agent, a chemical that reduces surface tension is used to hold the iron-oxide and oil together. This caught my attention when I saw the amazing sculptures that can be made using the fluid.
