While our society is obsessed with eating less to lose weight and live better, balancing our protein intake is proved to be a smarter alternative. In a study of fruit flies, a balanced protein diet had very positive effects. Dr. Matthew Piper said that by balancing amino acids, lifespan and fertility are both maximized in the fruit flies. Methionine, one of the most important amino acids, is essential to the formation of all proteins. While the genetic make up of the fruit flies is different from our own, this finding is useful in studying human biology as well.
