More on Water!

I found this article about the newly found potentials of water molecules intriguing. As we all know, the “key to life” is water, but it may have more advantages than once thought. Scientists and researchers are now thinking that water molecules can be used to solve many of life’s predicaments. This is largely due to water’s tetrahedral structure and its interaction with its’ molecular neighbors. A greater understanding of these ideas will allow scientists to further research in the fight against cancer and have a new outlook on numerous biological and chemical puzzles in our world.

  1. I'd like to comment on the vast functions of water in biological systems and in our lives. Water seems to be the most ubiquitous molecule. It only makes sense that a better understanding of water could lead to a better understanding of human immunity. This is very interesting to me. I hope further studies are conducted on this matter.

  2. I found it fascinating to read about water's "supercooled" state. I didn't realize that water can remain in liquid form even at below freezing temperatures. Also, like Jono commented, it is interesting to see what ways we can approve our health and prevent disease through chemistry.

  3. I have high hope for more discoveries of the use of water in the medical fields. Since it is the major liquid needed by our body, it isn't surprising that it is the answer to many health related problems. Not only does water have a major potential for being a cure of some illnesses, it also holds many functions in the human body such as maintaining the skin's elasticity, controling the average body temperature as well as supplying oxygen for our cells.
