Time magazine has called it the most horrible drug in the world and last month we got to have some it in the U.S. In September, Phoenix, Arizona reported the first two medical emergencies in the U.S. caused by the drug krokodil. Krokodil is a ferocious opiate drug, made by cooking codeine pain medicine with gasoline paint thinner and alcohol. Krokodil has a high very similar to heroine. Krokodil gained in Russia as a cheaper alternative to heroine. It is so powerful that it completely dissolves your skin and deteriorates all bone muscle and nerve tissue.
Now the reason why I wanted to share this video is for the reason to show that despite chemistry bringing to light so many wonderful and amazing discoveries. There are those who misuse the beauty of it and while it has done many great things for society it has also doomed us as well. I share this video in the hopes that you can keep in mind that people are misusing science and it’s our responsibility to make sure these people don’t give chemistry a bad name. Also keep in mind, if we didn’t have chemistry we wouldn’t be able to gain the knowledge of what these terrible drugs do to the body, and would be able to further understand how out body works due to the effects of certain chemicals and compounds.
So thank you chemistry for ensuring the safety of my Tylenol, but I hope people would stop misusing your power.

Wow...I had never heard of this drug until I read this article. I agree with you although a lot of knowledge for good uses, has been gained through chemistry, there are people that misuse this power of knowledge for very idiotic purposes. I was really interested and do not understand why someone would put themselves through this for a temporarily high feeling. Nevertheless, this article was really interesting and I learned new information that I will definitely be sharing with family and friends.
