Pool Party

The cartoon I have selected depicts two oxygen atoms having a conversation.  The first oxygen atom is attempting to convince his friend to go to a pool party with him.  The oxygen atom says, “Dude, you should definitely come to this pool party. There are going to be two hydrogens for every oxygen out there.”  I thought this was a funny chemistry cartoon. It reinforces what we already know about the fixed structure of water molecules, which is that a single water molecule has one atom of oxygen and two atoms of hydrogen. I thought it was witty and clever to have the atoms attending a pool party as they are literally going to produce water after reacting with the hydrogen. Without a doubt, this cartoon was a simple yet effective way to express chemistry humor.
