I chose to write my blog post on a funny chemistry cartoon pertaining to ions. An ion is atom in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, which subsequently gives the atom a net charge that is either positive or negative. The carton depicts a classroom filled with positively charged ion ‘boys’ who are being drawn towards the window where negatively charged ion ‘girls’ are standing. The boy’s teacher says, “Perhaps one of you gentleman would mind telling me just what it is outside the window you find so attractive…?” This is amusing; as we know positively charged ions are naturally attracted to negatively charged ions. Also, this is comparable to how real human react when they see someone attractive.
