Non-metal Carbenes Discovered!

Recently, researchers at the University of California, Riverside, discovered a group of non-metal carbenes that were previously thought to be impossible to make. Carbenes are highly reactive molecules that are generally unstable in nature. They can be used to make catalysts, but usually need to be combined with a metal such as gold or platinum. These metals are expensive, and thus scientists have been trying to find a way to make a metal-free carbine catalyst. This is a very important development for researchers in the study of catalysts, and scientists hope that this discovery will lead to further technological advancements.
