The Bonding Song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-GjiDAaJGY

This song explains how different types of bonds work. Starting with ionic bonding, the singer clarifies which bonds are the strongest. He also explains that ionic bonding is an exchange of electrons causing a positive and negative charge (cation and anion respectively) which causes the attraction. He then goes on to explain covalent bonding as the sharing of an electron or electrons (allowing for double or triple bonds). They explain why there are slightly charged particles in covalent bonding. I found this interesting because we’ve been discussing this in class. The video is cute and a nice, easy way to review the material.

  1. Funny video! I think it was amusing that we both posted videos of songs about bonding on the same day. I think yours was more helpful with vocabulary, though. Yours got more detailed, while mine gave more of an overview. But it was definitely a good explanation of the concepts covered in class, and it was pretty amusing.
